The other day I was driving with the radio on when Gates of Steel suddenly came on. No need to say it—when a song catches you completely off guard, it just hits different.
We’re obsessed by soundtracks you know… (find it here)
Out of all the memories a classic track can bring back, the very first thing that came to mind was Donovon Piscopo’s part in Chronicles Vol. 2. More specifically, a handful of tricks that have stayed burned into my memory, even though I hadn’t watched the part in years.

I still remember when the video dropped. By then, most of us had finally accepted Nike as a real part of skateboarding after years of skepticism, and then they opened the video with a part nobody saw coming.
Fast, creative, and incredibly consistent skating, all tied together by a clear aesthetic that amplified his style. Then again, you don’t get to open a video like that by accident.

Nowadays, though, Chronicles Vol. 2 is mostly remembered for Ishod’s closing part, right before he went on to win SOTY.
Me? Donovon’s is still the one I remember the most. From the powerslide shove-it, to the switch flip over the trash can, to those uphill boardslide-to-smith grinds. The ender…THE ENDER
Then again… not everyone can pull off Devo.
Now enjoy the whole vid
We love you, Don
