Hype

Kyle Walker, you know the videopart

Let’s be honest… who hasn’t, at least once in their life, landed a trick and made the crowd go wild?

And honestly… how good is it to keep a memory like that?

As important as it is to keep your ego in check when skating—and in everything else—it’s only natural to feel motivated after something like that.

I’m not talking about people screaming at themselves after landing a trick. Some shout so loudly on their own that they can’t even hear everyone else clapping together.

Spoiler: this thing will work against you while you’re trying to find a sponsor — trust me I have proof of it.

I’m talking about the ones whose eyes light up while they enjoy the roll away. Maybe with a little smirk. That’s a whole different story.

You probably couldn’t sleep that night, or maybe you talked about it with your girlfriend or your friends later that same evening, sometimes met with confused silence.

But there’s always that local homie who remembers that moment, and you’ll carry it with you for years. It’s not about how difficult the trick was—it’s about winning a battle. That same persistence, that refusal to give up, got almost everyone who was there hyped.

Even more so if you’re filming, and the filmer—the real hero without a cape—knows that the tough mission has finally been accomplished.

TWS – First love

After all, going home after battling a trick for hours without landing it is a pretty terrible feeling.

I remember a time when celebrating was almost forbidden, somewhere around 2010–2015. Artsy bullshit. Of course, nobody likes someone yelling right next to the camera—like that cute kid running up to Javier Sarmiento in the Stee video part and covering the music.

I just think that this feeling, even twenty years from now, will still be something beautiful—something that deeply connects the people sharing a moment at a spot.

Here’s an edit of banger celebrations I rember the most over the years.
